Account of events: The C.O.T.C. travelled to remote areas to train for the practical examinations required to become a military officer. Sussex was the destination of the first retreat, which was then moved to Woodstock for the years thereafter.

Participants trained in drills, tactics, night-operations and maneuvers, listened to lectures, and practiced shooting.

Similarly, the U.A.T.C. travelled to No. 8 S.F.T.S. in Moncton for a training camp in the spring of 1943.
