MediaWiki provides two editors for the editing of wiki content.
RichTextEditor
The RichTextEditor is easier to learn and use than the WikiTextEditor. The RichTextEditor provides the Contributor with a toolbar that facilitates many of the functions that will be necessary for the creation of basic content.
WikiTextEditor
The WikiTextEditor is more difficult to learn and more of a coding language, but truly not overly difficult to learn and essential for more complex functions. The Contributor will be able to perform all basic necessary tasks without learning the WikiTextEditor language, but the ambitious Contributor may attempt to learn some of the more advanced functions with relative ease.
