Rabindranath (Robin)&nbsp;Maharaj was the University of New Brunswick's 34<sup>th </sup>writer-in-residence for the 2016-2017 school year. Maharaj immigrated to Canada in the early 1990s, and completed his second M.A. at the University of New Brunswick in 1993. He has published five novels and three short story collections; his most recent book as of his appointment as writer-in-residence, called ''The Amazing Absorbing Boy'', won the 2011 Toronto Book Award and the 2010 Trillium Fiction Prize.
