Name: Graduate Student Association (GSA)

Previous/other names: Graduate Students' Society

Prominent date(s) of activity: 1948 - present

History: The Graduate Student Society was established in 1948 to give graduate students from various departments a chance to inter-mingle, as they were otherwise isolated to the company of only those with whom they worked. The society also hoped to increase graduate student numbers at the university through improved services.

Activities: The Graduate Student Association keeps graduate students informed about policy decisions and special events which might interest or concern them, and acts as a representative body to influence decisions being made about graduate studies at UNB.

Note(s): In the group's founding year there were twenty-two graduates at UNB from the departments of Chemisty, Biology, English, Economics, History, and Forestry.
