Name: UNB Political Club

Prominent date(s) of activity: 1950 -

History: While advocates of the popular parties were already active on campus, the Political Club was formed by a group of students of varying political beliefs interested in promoting political education and student involvement in politics.

Activities: In its first year the Political Club assumed administrative responsibilities for the Model Parliament, organizing three sessions during the Spring Semester. The first Model Parliament of this era was held February 10, 1950.

Note(s): Talk of founding a political club emerged in the winter of 1946, but efforts over the next several years were frustrated by organizational difficulties and opposition from the S.R.C.
