History: The Canadian Society of Civil Engineers was founded in 1887 to provided Civil Engineers with opportunities to engage in professional development through education, networking, advocacy, and publications, and a means by which members can stay abreast of technical, environmental, climatic, and other advances in civil engineering. The UNB Chapter was established ca. 1978.
Activities: The group sponsors guest lectures, open houses, a Christmas Social, BBQs, sports days, and educational field trips.
Note(s): In 2007, Dr. L.M. Waugh of the UNB Department of Civil Engineering was elected President of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering.
