History: The African Student Union was organized by students of UNB and STU who came from the African continent, so that members could meet to discuss local, national, and international issues, and develop a sense of African unity and solidarity on campus.

Each year the African Student Union hosts a Big Bambu Nite - the largest cultural event on campus - where guests are introduced to African food, music, dance, poetry, and fashion.
