Gerard Beirne was the University of New Brunswick's writer-in-residence for the 2008-2009 school year and then again during the 2015 Winter term.
Gerard Beirne was the University of New Brunswick's writer-in-residence for the 2008-2009 school year and then again during the 2015 Winter term. Beirne was born in Ireland, but has Canadian citizenshiop and has lived a long while in Canada. While at UNB, he gave a reading on September 29th, 2008, in the Alumni Lounge UNB; he gave a reading on March 1st, 2009, at the odd sundays event at Molly's Coffee House; and on April 14th, 2009, he was part of a reading at the Alumni Lounge UNB. During his second acedmic year as writer-in-residence, he read on November 19th, 2015, at the Wilser's Room.

For his second bout as UNB's writer-in-residence in 2015, Beirne succeeded Jeramy Dodds, and after him the title was given to Naomi Lewis
