History: The first official tree planting ceremony took place in June 1925 in memory of past graduating classes. Reforestation of the campus was begun by planting a tree for each graduating class, up to and including the class of 1910. Prior to the introduction of the tree planting ceremony the graduating class planted class ivy "in accordance with historic custom."
