History: Geomatics Engineering was established at UNB in 1960 as a program within the Department of Civil Engineering. In 1965 it became the Department of Surveying Engineering. In 1994 the Department name was changed to Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering, to reflect changes in technology, such as GPS.
