Named for: Late chemistry professor Allan P. Stuart
Event/Occasion/Significance: Ceremony held to dedicate a study centre in Stuart's memory and the naming of the Allan P. Stuart Memorial Awards for Excellence in Teaching.
Plaque Inscription/Text Associated: Dr. Stuart "always acknowledged as his first responsibility the teaching of students, which he approached with patience and understanding."
Notes: The commemorative plaque was unveiled by Stuart's daughter, Mrs. Susan Malone. Also present at the ceremony were Mrs. Allan P. Stuart and son, Allan W. Stuart.
The study centre houses Dr. Stuart's personal collection of books. Chemistry texts and materials donated by members of the faculty are also included here.
