Named for: G. Forbes Elliot, the first principal of UNB Saint John (1964-1976), first vice-president of UNB Saint John (1976-1977)
Renovations/changes/additions: A new gym floor consisting of a hardwood basketball court and a paulastic synthetic surface was installed December 2003/January 2004; renovations to the upstairs workout room in 2006 created more space for new equipment.
Notes: The 30,000 square foot space provides recreation facilities for UNB Saint John students and faculty as well as the Saint John community, including a multi-purpose area for a variety of sports, as well as space for offices, locker rooms, and equipment and service areas. During construction of the building, most of the steel framework collapsed 19 September 1974, injuring two workers.
