Gerard Beirne was the University of New Brunswick's writer-in-residence for the 2008-2009 school year and then again during the 2015 Winter term.
In 2008, Beirne was proceeded by Patricia Young, and succeeded by Fred Stenson in 2009.
For his second bout as UNB's writer-in-residence in 2015, Beirne succeeded Jeramy Dodds, and after him the title was given to Naomi Lewis.
