Royal Visit 1967

Significance: Presentation of the UNB president and descendents of the Fathers of Confederation to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother during New Brunswick celebrations marking the 1967 Canadian Centennial Year.
Summary of event: A presentation by Lieutenant-Govenor John B. McNair to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother of UNB president Dr. Colin B Mackay and descendants of the Fathers of Confederation took place at Lady Dunn Hall. A luncheon provided by the Province of New Brunswick followed at which Premier Louis J. Robichaud presented Her Majesty with a gift from the province. The visit on campus ended at 2:30 with a departure for Odell Park.
Notes: After visits to Odell Park and Camp Gagetown, Her Majesty returned to Saint John where the HMY Britannia was berthed. The next day a visit to St. Andrews and Campobello Island was planned.
