Born in Montreal, Kerry-Lee Powell has lived in Australia, Antigua, and The United Kingdom, where she studied Medieval and Renaissance literature at Cardiff University, as well as directed a literature promotion agency. Her debut collection of short fiction, ''Willem de Kooning's Paintbrush'', was nominated for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and shortlisted for both the Governor General's Award for Literature, and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. Kerry Lee Powell was UNB's 35th writer-in-residence for the Fall term of 2017. Born in Montreal, Kerry-Lee Powell has lived in Australia, Antigua, and The United Kingdom, where she studied Medieval and Renaissance literature at Cardiff University, as well as directed a literature promotion agency. Her debut collection of short fiction, Willem de Kooning's Paintbrush, was nominated for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and shortlisted for both the Governor General's Award for Literature, and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. Her collection of poems, Inheritance, was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Award in 2015.
