Bill Gaston was the University of New Brunswick's writer-in-residence from 1990 to 1992. He recieved his B.A, M.A, and M.F.A. attending the University of British Columbia. While Gaston was around UNB he was also the director of the creative writing programme, and for a period he was the editor of The Fiddlehead, Canada's oldest literary journal. In 1998 he left the Maritimes to join the creative writing department at the University of Victoria.
