Name: UNB Liberal Club

Previous/other names: N/A

Prominent date(s) of activity: 1957 - 1969.

History: The UNB Liberal Club was established in 1957 so that students could learn more about Canadian Politics and parliamentary procedures.

'Activities': Members of the UNB Liberal Club held meetings, hosted guest speakers, travelled to the National Liberal Convention, and sat in at Model Parliament.

Note(s): After the 1958 Model Parliament, the fifteen Liberals who had sat in were invited to a dinner sponsored by the Premier of the Province.

In 1966 the UNB Liberal Club posited that the Model Parliament should be discontinued at UNB and elsewhere because it was no more than a theatrical farce, and could be used by future politicians of the student population to further their political agendas.
