  • Arranged the Bryan Priestman lecture series for several years in the late 1960s.
  • One of the first elected faculty members when the UNB Senate was formed in 1968.

  • Baker was President of the Fredericton Branch of the Humanities Association.
  • 1962-63 visiting research professor at the Atomic Energy Establishment at Culham in the U.K.
  • Senior scientist and consultant with the plasma physics group at RCA Victor in Montreal.  Worked on early detection of ICBMs.
