- Keirstead was visiting professor in economics at the University of Arizona (1938), Dow professor of political economy and chairman of the department at McGill University (1942-1954), and professor of political economy at the University of Toronto (1954-1969).
- He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in May 1944 and was granted the Nuffield Foundation Fellowship in 1950.
Notes:
- Acclaimed as one of Canada's leading economists and was a member of the board of editors of the Canadian Journal of Economics and Political Science and the Royal Economics Society and Political Science Association.
- Keirstead attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar (1928 - 1931).
