Dr. Compton was one of the four editors of Coastlines: The poetry of Atlantic Canada published to critical acclaim in 2002. She served as the only Writer-in-Residence at UNBSJ from 2008 to 2010, and has been a member of the Board of the Lorenzo Society Reading Series. In 2008, Dr. Compton won the Alden Nowlan Award for Excellence in the Literary Arts, as well as a National Magazine Award in Poetry.
