RM Vaughan was a successful creative writer, journalist and video artist whose books include the poetry collections <em>A Selection of Dazzling Scarves</em>, <em>Invisible to Predators</em>, <em>Ruined Stars</em>, <em>Troubled</em>, and <em>Ve1Xe</em>. His novels <em>A Quilted Heart</em> and <em>Spells</em> both were met with critical acclaim, and he was the author of many theatre works, including the recently published "One Year After", as well as the plays "Camera", "Woman" and "The Monster Trilogy". A selected essays, entitled <em>Compared to Hitler</em>, was released in 2013 and his non-fiction book <em>Bright Eyed: Insomnia and its Cultures</em> was a bestseller in translation in South Korea. His latest video collaboration, "House Dress" toured Mexico as part of retrospective of queer video works. He was a regular arts columnist and critic for several newspapers and magazines including <em>The Globe and Mail</em> and the <em>National Post</em>. Vaughan was born in Saint John and raised in St. Martins and Quispamsis. He completed his BA (1987) and MA (1991) in English from University of New Brunswick.
