History: The UNB Gym Team was formed in 1942, although no competitions were held for a few years. The team was primarily used in these years as conditioning for members in other sports teams. By 1945 the Gym team was competing with the local YMCA as well as a team from Saint John. Technical disagreements in 1946 prevented the team from being able to compete, however they performed at a few half-time sections of basketball games. In the years following the Gymnastics team grew in interest and began competing in intercollegiate tournaments.
