Education: BA (University of Toronto), Diploma (OCAD)
Colleen Wagner was UNB’s eighteenth writer-in-residence during the 1999-2000 academic year. Wagner is a native of Elk Point, Alberta, and has worked as a visual artist, designer, photographer, and actress, preforming in classical and contemporary theatre across Canada, alongside film and TV. She was awarded the 1996 Governor General’s award for her play “The Monument”, which was also nomionated for the Dora Maven Moore Award, and has been translated into numerous different languages. Alongside her literary achievements she was the founder of the Notable Acts Theatre Company in Fredericton. She has served as playwright-in-residence at the Necessary Angel Theatre, the Canadian Stage Company, and Tarragon Theatre. She has taught writing at Sheridan College, Centennial College, Ryerson Polytechnic, and the University of Toronto.
Wagner was preceded by Richard Sanger, and succeeded by George Fetherling.
