Plaque Inscription/Text Associated: Bliss Carman: On the 50th anniversary of his death, Encaenia 1979 Then footman up! Good horses speed! Then, Lads, aboard and make all sail!

Notes: Robert H. Cockburn, chairman of UNB's English Department, addressed the guests, and English Professor Fred Cogswell also spoke at the event. UNB historian and philosopher Alfred G. Bailey read Bliss Carman's poem of the Scarlet Maple.
